Passport Photo Requirements

Before you submit your application, make sure your passport-sized photo complies with the specification below. Non-compliant photos will lead to rejection of your application.

1. Maximum photo size is 25kb to be uploaded in ESD Online.
2. Full face, front view, with eyes open and a neutral expression.
3. No head covering, except for religious reasons — the face must remain fully visible.
4. VTR Application: Plain white background, with no border or frame around the photo.
5. VDR Application: Plain white or plain blue background, with no border or frame around the photo.
6. Photo size of 35mm (width) x 50mm (height).
7. Head height of 30–35mm, measured from chin to crown.
8. Top margin of about 5mm and a chin margin of 5–10mm.
9. Image must be clear and sharp — not blurred, tilted, too far, or too small.

Once your photo is uploaded in ESD Online, you may download it and use the eVisa Malaysia photo check tool to verify it meets these requirements before submitting your application.
