NOTICE: EXTENSION OF THE 1:3 INTERNSHIP POLICY PILOT PHASE
21 January 2026
The 1:3 Internship Policy, which was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) on 15 January 2025 as part of Malaysia's broader efforts to build a future-ready, skills-based talent ecosystem and to strengthen industry participation in developing local talent, links expatriate hiring to local talent development by requiring employers to offer three (3) structured and paid internship placements under the National Structured Internship Programme (MySIP) for every one (1) expatriate hired.
We are pleased to inform that the pilot phase of the 1:3 Internship Policy, originally scheduled to conclude on 31 December 2025, has been extended until 31 March 2026.
This extension is intended to provide employers with additional time to familiarise themselves with the policy, plan internship requirements and placements, and onboard the MyNext platform (www.mynext.my).
During the extended pilot period, TalentCorp will continue to engage closely with employers, offering guidance, clarification, and hands-on support to facilitate effective and quality implementation that benefits both organisations and interns.
Employers are encouraged to utilise this period to strengthen structured internship pathways, enhance industry-education linkages, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Malaysia's future workforce.
